English and Writing
Writing is a crucial part of life and therefore forms a critical part of our curriculum. We aim to develop children’s love of language and storytelling as well as their ability to produce well-structured, purposeful writing, which will engage the interest of their audience. We intend to create writers who can confidently use the formal structures of English, paying close attention to grammatical detail, punctuation and spelling.
Our intentions are for children to:
Write for a purpose
See themselves as real writers
Take ownership of their writing
View writing as an interesting and enjoyable process
Acquire the ability to organise and plan their written work
Through immersive links to engaging, quality text as well as clear modelling of writing skills and shared writing opportunities, children will develop their use of technique and their understanding of the power and importance of their style and vocabulary choices.
